CVE-2026-62830 is an elevation of privilege vulnerability in Azure SRE Agent, Microsoft’s site reliability engineering tooling for Azure. A flaw in missing authorisation checks means an already-authenticated attacker could abuse the agent over a network to gain higher privileges than intended. If exploited, this could allow an attacker to escalate their access within an Azure environment, potentially compromising resources or data beyond their permitted scope.

Security Architect’s Take: Audit which identities and workloads have access to Azure SRE Agent and apply the principle of least privilege immediately; apply any Microsoft-issued patches or mitigations without delay and monitor agent activity logs for anomalous privilege usage until your environment is confirmed remediated.
